Give Mowbray Some Financial Help SISU - Fleck

John Fleck has said that Coventry City's owners SISU need to give manager Tony Mowbray some financial backing to help the club get promoted.

Warning that things could be the same again next season unless SISU drop their desire for the Sky Blues to be self-sufficient, Fleck told the Coventry Telegraph:

“It’s been very frustrating how it’s turned out. “It’s been a season of two halves really, incredible at the start but overall it’s very disappointing, especially for the manager who has strived really hard to get in the people he wanted.

“I am really disappointed for him. I’ve worked under different managers here. Steven Pressley was very hands on and in your face but, being Scottish, I never had a problem with that.

“Obviously I worked under Walter Smith at Rangers but this manager is the best I’ve worked with and I think the club is in great hands with him.

“I just hope they give him something to work with because I think the last thing he wants is for next season to go through the same thing as this season with 15 players out of contract and relying on loans again. So I think he needs some help along the way.

“The club is in a difficult situation in terms of what they’re bringing in with regards to buying players.

“For me, it doesn’t look like they will be buying players so is it going to be loans and just bringing young boys through from the youth. It could be good but, at the same time, it could go wrong.”

Fleck feels that City wouldn’t have to break the bank but maybe just stretch the budget a little further in terms of wages to attract quality free transfers this summer.

“I think we all understand that the club isn’t going to go out and spend millions of pounds on a player but I think they need to give the manager some help; give him a chance.

“The pre-season is going to be just like last season full of young kids and the team probably struggling to score a goal and then start off on fire again. But what happens in January when the loan kids burn out again?

“If you go down that route you probably need a bit of luck but, for me, just looking at it I think the manager needs some help.”
