Coventry City manager Mark Robins has asked the City supporters to give new signing Leon Clarke time.

The much travelled striker completed his move from Charlton Athletic on Monday and the City boss wants City fans to be patient with Clarke.

Speaking to club journalist Kieran Crowley, the City boss said: “He is a proven goal-scorer at this level but it will take him a little bit of time to get him up to speed. It is important we get him integrated into the squad’s mentality as soon as possible.

“There is an element of gamble with any player you bring in and he will be different from David McGoldrick in the way he plays.

“He will probably score more from crosses which means there will be slight changes the squad will have to adapt to.

“The dynamics will change so that means we are in slight transition at the moment but once Clarke is firing, the side will benefit from it.”
