Coventry City are giving Peter Gilbert a trial.

The defender played for forty minutes of the Marcus Hall Testimonial this lunchtime, which saw Coventry City draw 2-2 with Everton at the Ricoh Arena.

The defender, who celebrated his 26th birthday on Friday, was born in Newcastle and is a Wales U21 international.

He came through Birmingham City's Academy before joining Plymouth Argyle where he made 84 appearances.

Gilbert joined Leicester City from Plymouth for £200,000 on the summer of 2006. He only made six appearances for them and was loaned out to Sheffield Wednesday.

He had three years at Hillsborough making 34 appearances and an eight game loan spell in 2007 before being released by Brian Laws this summer.
