Getting Attention & Support For The KCIC Message

Getting attention and support for the kcic message – the Arsenal game

  • Total respect to people who will boycott the Arsenal game
  • But kcic has always argued that nopm is one of several tactics we can use and for many people nopm now means the sixfields boycott
  • A 100% boycott of the Arsenal game would be a powerful message but we have to be realistic and recognise that won't happen

Lots of people have been contacting kcic suggesting things that could be done so we are looking at possible options

  • Organise a coach and have an afternoon event at sisu and the Football League before going to the Emirates
  • Co-ordinate a pre match media opportunity with Arsenal fans
  • People can bring individual flags but we’ll see if we can get a couple of larger ones saying ‘keep cov in cov’ and because this will have a national audience ‘your club could be next’

For something bigger, the message has to be dead simple and something everyone can get on board with. And remember the target is NOT City fans, Arsenal fans or the local media – it’s going for national attention and will involve detailed media briefing. So the key message is we belong in Coventry, and WHY is this happening and WHEN will we return to Cov. So:

  • On 35 mins – hold up signs saying ‘WHY’ and sing: ‘I wanna go home, I wanna go home, Back to the Ricoh, the Ricoh’s our home’ (link is we’re playing 35 miles from home)
  • On 61 mins – hold up signs saying ‘WHEN’ and sing the Sky Blue song (link is JH became manager in 1961 and wrote the Sky Blue song containing the line ‘We’ll fight till the game is won’ which is what fans will do to get us back to cov)
  • ‘Why’ and ‘When’ will attract people’s attention and make them wonder what is meant; in explaining this, tv and other media will in effect put a spotlight on the relevant parties; it is something that hopefully just about every City fan can sign up to (you might have different ideas about how to do things, but the real question is could you live with this approach?)

More details will follow as soon as we have them.
