George Hudson Back For Legends Day

Last updated : 14 March 2015 By CCFPA

It’s only a week away! The Coventry City Former Players Association is pleased to say we are looking to get another great turnout of our members at Legends Day 2015 at the Ricoh next Saturday (21st March 2015).

One of the latest to have confirmed his attendance is true Club Legend and goal scoring artist of the 1960′s George Hudson, a vital component of Jimmy Hill’s ‘Sky Blue Revolution’.  The ‘Hud’ will be bringing along several members of his family hoping to see the Sky Blues (under new gaffer Tony Mowbray) gain a vital three points against Doncaster Rovers in their battle to climb away from the relegation zone.

Legends-Retro Day 2015Legends Day 2015 will also be focusing on commemorating the achievements of JH’s 1963/4 Division Three Championship squad and several members, including George, will be present. The latest news of those we expect to attend (in alphabetical order) are:-

Claus Bech Jorgensen, Dave Bennett, Ken Brown, Dietmar Bruck, Dave Busst, Willie Carr, Chris Cattlin, Gerry Daly, Peter Denton, Dean Emerson, Ron Farmer, Ian Goodwin, Micky Gynn, Colin Holder, Jimmy Holmes, George Hudson, Ernie Hunt, Lee Hurst, Steve Morgan, Ron Newman, Graham Newton, Brian Nicholas, Trevor Peake, Brian Roberts, Ken Satchwell, Gordon Simms, Kirk Stephens, Bill Tedds, David Thompson, John Tudor (flying over from the States to be with us), Graham Walker, Ian Wallace, John Williams, Paul Williams, Peter Wyer and Quintin Young. Family members of other former CCFC players and managers who sadly cannot be with us are also expected to attend including those of Brian Hill, Jimmy Hill and George Mason.

Of course we also expect ‘Oggy’ to be around and about the match-day squad preparing for the game and hope he will join us at some point during the day. These Bantams and Sky Blue stalwarts will be entertained to lunch before the game and introduced to the crowd on the pitch at half time. Later, after the game they will be invited to appear en masse ‘on the stage’ at Lady G’s in the G-Casino where m/c (and CCFPA vice chair) Billy Bell will lead the fun and games in front of what we are sure will be a packed house of Sky Blue fans eager to see their heroes.

If you wish to dine with several generations of the Sky Blues stars of the past it is still possible to book a package in the E.ON lounge at the Ricoh – but be quick! For further details of the £59 package (discounts available for concessions/season ticket holders) or to book, please call CCFC on 02476 992 329 or email hospitality@ccfc.co.uk.
