Furlong's Playing Career To Continue

Former Coventry City striker Paul Furlong is to continue his playing career.

The 41 year old thought his playing days might be over when his contract at Barnet ended. However, he has signed for Conference side Kettering Town.

Furlong who also played for Enfield, Birmingham, QPR, Watford and Chelsea made his Kettering debut in a pre-season game against MK Dons on Tuesday night and has also been given a coaching role at the Northamptonshire based club.

Former City Reserve team keeper Mervyn Day has been appointed Chief Scout at Leeds United. Day made a couple of reserve team appearances for the Sky Blues whilst on loan in 1991.

Dele Adebola is back to fitness after undergoing surgery. It was first thought that the former Sky Blues striker would miss the start of the season after requiring an operation after an old hernia repair had become infected.

However, the striker is back training and scored in the 27th minute for Nottingham Forest in a 2-1 win at Mansfield Town on Wednesday night.
