Four City Old Boys Enjoy Wembley Day

Four former Coventry City old boys were in action this afternoon in the League Cup Final at Wembley Stadium between Cardiff City and Liverpool.

Ben Turner and Aron Gunnarsson (pictured below) played for Cardiff whilst former loanee Jordan Henderson played for 58 minutes before he was replaced by Craig Bellamy.

Joe Mason put Cardiff ahead in the 19th minute but Liverpool equalised through Martin Skirtel in the 59th minute.

With Ben Turner having a fine game, the game went into extra time and in the 18th minute, substitute Dirk Kuyt scored to give Liverpool a lead. 

However, with just over three minutes left, Ben Turner (Pictured Below) bundled home a corner to send the game into penalties.

Both sides failed to score their first penalty. Charlie Adam then missed but Cowie scored to put Cardiff 1-0 up. Kuyt scored but Rudy Gestede hit the post. Stewart Downing scored.as did Nuneaton's Peter Whittingham. Glenn Johnson scored.but Anthony Gerrard sent the ball wide to give Liverpool a win on penalties.
