Former Coventry City starlet Daniel Sturridge is set to join Chelsea after failing to agree terms with a new contract at Manchester City.

The Sky Blues will benefit financially from the transfer. As Sturridge is under 24 a compensation fee, to be determined by a tribunal will be payable by his new club. The higher the compensation, the more money Coventry will receive.

The BBC say Chelsea are now favourites to capture his signature.

Sturridge is thought to have rejected a £45,000 deal at Manchester City and favoured a move to West Ham, where he though he would get regular games.  The Guardian has reported that he can expect Chelsea to offer him in the region of £75,000 a week.
