Winnie Batchelor, who helped to found the Coventry City Diamond Club, has died aged 98.

Winnie did not miss a City home game at Highfield Road for seventy years and had a West Stand seat for over twenty years.

When ill health at the age of 92 prevented Winnie, whose favourite players include keepers Reg Matthews, Alf Wood and Steve Ogrizovic her from attendiing matches, she kept in touch listening to every game on the radio.

Coventry City Diamond Club Committee Member and CCFC Director Joe Elliott told the CT: "We're very sad to hear about Winnie's passing. "It's friends like Winnie that clubs are built on. "She will be missed."

Kev Monks said on behalf of Covsupport News Service: "Coventry City is as much about the people you meet and the friends you make as it is watching the Sky Blues. I had the pleasure of meeting Winnie and her family a few times at Diamond Club lunches and it was abundantly clear how much she loved the Sky Blues. "We're sad to hear of her death and pass on our condolences to her family and friends."
