Former City Youth Teamer Signs For Corby Aged 47

Former Coventry City youth teamer Paul Bastock has signed for Corby Town at the ripe old age of 47.

The Leamington born keeper won the FA Youth Cup with the Sky Blues in 1987 but was released a year later and he has gone on to play for Cambridge United, Bath City, Fisher Athletic, Kettering Town, Aylesbury United, Boston United for whom he made 549 appearances in two spells, Dagenham & Redbridge, St Albans City, Rushden & Diamonds, Worksop Town, Royston Town, St Neots Town, Dunstable and Stamford, making over a thousand appearances.

Bastock has been at Corby, jointly managed by former City winger David Bell for pre-season and wrote on social media: “The very old cat is absolutely delighted to sign for Corby Town last night, this will be my last season and I’m hoping to end my very long career on a high.”
