Former Coventry City Reserve team manager Frankie Bunn has returned to Oldham Athletic as manager.

Bunn, who once scored six goals in a League Cup tie for Oldham, was joint caretaker manager of the Sky Blues in 2007 following Ray Ranson's sacking of Iain Dowie, but returned to his role as reserve team boss when Chris Coleman was appointed.

He was at Rochdale for a time and was for a few seasons doing a good job as head coach of Huddersfield Town U23's.

Oldham's owner Abdallah Lemsagam said: “We are delighted to welcome Frankie Bunn to the club as first team manager.

“He knows the club very well from his playing time here and he has a wealth of experience working with young talent which has impressed me.

“I believe he can take the club forward and give Boundary Park something to cheer about.”
