It is sad to report the death last week of former City player Vernon Griffiths at the age of 74.

Birmingham-born Vernon was on West Brom's books as a 15-year old but was signed by Coventry City in 1954. He made 17 first team appearances at wing-half between 1957 and 1959. He later played for Rugby Town.

Vernon, a popular member of the Former Players Association had been suffering from cancer for some time.

His funeral will take place on 10 May.
