Former Coventry City manager Don Howe has died aged 80.

Howe made 379 appearances for West Bromwich Albion before making 74 appearances for Arsenal and pciking up 23 caps for England.

He was one of the most influential coaches in England and joined Terry Butcher at City in 1991 before taking over as team manager in 1992 from Butcher.

He stayed until Bobby Gould came in, winning three matches in twenty games and then moved onto coaching the England team with Terry Venables in the run up to Euro 96 before going back to Arsenal as a Youth Team coach.

Howe was involved in coaching schemes across the country up to his death today.

Former Coventry City player Kevin Gallagher tweeted: “RIP Don Howe. One of the best coaches in my time with @Coventry_City & a great man. Thoughts with his family #footballfamily
