Former Coventry City defender Sam Allardyce is to be named as the new England manager.

Allardyce will leave Sunderland after nine months in the job and is expected to unveiled by the FA in the next twenty four hours and will complete the quartet of British national teams (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), who are managed by someone who has been involved with Coventry City in their playing or managing career.

Steve Bruce was interviewed for the job as well but the FA have gone for Allardyce, who had a season at Highfield Road in 1983.
