Former City Assistant Manager Dies

Former Coventry City Assistant Manager Frank Upton has died aged 76.

Born in Atherstone, Upton, was a hard tackling defender with Nuneaton, Northampton Town, Derby County, Chelsea, Notts County, Worcester City and Workington.

After coaching spells at Aston Villa, Dundee, Randers in Denmark, Al Arabi, Wolves and Bedworth United, he came to Coventry City to work under Bobby Gould but was sacked in 1986 when Gould was dismissed as manager.

He died at his Derby home following a short illness.
