Former Coventry City Academy boss Richard Money has been ousted as manager of Luton FC.

Money, who was pretty successful as City U18's boss before his friendship with former Chairman Bryan Richardson cost him his job, had also been at Walsall and Newcastle United before he took the Luton job in October 2009.

He took Luton to the Conference Play-Offs last season but this year, the Hatters are fifteen points off a place back in the Football League and after Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Southport, Money had a meeting with Luton's MD Gary Sweet.

"It is with a heavy heart that I pass on the baton so close to the end of the season," Money told Luton Town's official club website.

"But I have every faith that such a capable and enthusiastic person is in place to give the team and supporters a fresh impetus.

"After Saturday's defeat at Southport, Gary Sweet and I met to discuss what we both felt was an unsatisfactory display.

"We both came to the conclusion that promotion must be the only target for the club in its current position and decided that we needed to do whatever we felt necessary to make it happen."

He has been replaced by his assistant Gary Brabbin.
