Former Academy Kit Manager Pleaded Guilty To Sex Offences

Tony Shiels, a former Coventry City Academy kit manager has pleaded guilty to a number of sex offences.

The offences have nothing to do with his work or time at Coventry City and City have said in a statement:  “We can confirm that Mr Shiels was employed at the club as an Academy Kit and Transport Manager between 2013 and 2016.

“Mr Shiels was fully DBS checked prior to the commencement of his employment.

“The club were made aware of the allegations against Mr Shiels in November 2015 and he was suspended with immediate effect.

“There are no instances where alleged offences involved any member, staff or players, of the football club.

“The club will be making no further comment at this time.”
