CCFC Veterans side 5 v George Elliot Hospital 1

Cov vets secured back to back wins in a pulsating game in front of a record crowd of 5 people.

Captain Tony Malone won the toss for the 5th game in a row and the vets started off playing a 343 formation but player McKay changed it after 5 minutes to a 442.

The Vets started well and had the early pressure. They went 1-0 up when Mckay rose like a salmon to head home. Closer observers reckoned the ball just bounced off his head.

With the back four of Tony, Keith, Jordan and Young Andy holding solid, the vets went 2-0 up. Mckay again scored this time an unstoppable pile driver from 2 yards.

With Stato drifting in midfield playing right and left side, the vets went 3-0 up when Gav scored a cracking goal.

Towards the end of the first half McKay brought on Pete for Craig who was making his debut.

At half time Stato made way for Craig. With Pete knocking the ball about, Gav scored his second.

Young Andy who was having s fine game at left back crossed the ball from right wing to make it 4-0 and Gav’s second.

Good saves from Dave, another player making his debut kept the score down.

Gav made it 5-0 and scored his hatrick after good work from Aron and Big Andy. both had fine games up front.

With less than 10 minutes to go the Vets conceded a soft goal but held on to secure another victory.

The Vets playing in a new kit kindly donated by CCFC deserved their win and should have scored more.

Speaking to the press after the match, McKay said "We are all Cov and put cats in the bin. We played like a team today".

Man of the match has to be Gav for his hat-trick and was last seen walking off with the match ball.

The Vets next run out is in 2 weeks.

So are you over 30? Do you think you can cross like Bell? Save like Murphy? Pass like Fleck? Or tackle like Wood?
Now’s your chance to prove it and come and play for the CCFC supporters veterans side. We play against local sides or other supporters clubs around the country.

We have now got a good squad of players but are still looking for more lads.

Not everyone can play each week so we need a big squad.

Although the ability to score 30 goals a season would be a bonus, as long as you can tie your own boots up, support Cov and just want a bit of a kick around you are in!
