Cov vets secured their first win ever in a good spirited game against a Coventry select 11!

The Vets started well against a 7 aside side made up of Cov supporters A and B team and two of the Veterans side including player manager Paul McKay.

The Vets went 1-0 up with a well taken goal after 10 minutes.

After convincing a lad watching to play, a mad dash to get two other players and football boots the select Xl had a full side after 30 mins.
Stato who had been playing the ball around went back on the vets side.
The select Xl went in 1-0 down at half time.

In a mixture of the green and brown kit, tee shirts and sweat shirts the select Xl had the best of the early period. Playing an attacking 4-1-5 formation the select Xl could not brake down the vets side.

The vets playing with 12 players were in total control and should of scored more.

Leaving McKay on his own at the back everyone pushed up for a throw in.

The vets cleared and rolling back the years 7 of the vets broke and after three shots which the keeper, McKay and the post stopped the ball was in the net making it 2-0.

The vets went 3-0 up but with Mckay threatening to take his ball home as it was offside the goal wasn't given. With no linesman or ref to give the decision it was decided the goal wouldn't be allowed to stop the tears from the Select Xl.

As one player said "we are all Cov and put cats in the bin, so does it matter"!

The Vets came back and were now dominating the match to make it 3-0 and a well deserved win.

McKay who refused to shake hands at the end was later sacked.

Man of the match Stato has taken over as care taker manager.
In all a great game, jumpers for goal posts as it should be.

So if you don't take life to seriously and fancy a game get in touch.
McKay will be back in charge for the next game as he has the kit and the balls!!!
