Fifty years ago today, Jimmy Hill took over as manager of Coventry City.

Having ended his playing career In November 1961, aged 33, Jimmy Hill took over as manager of Coventry City and held his first training session on November 28th 161 before being unveiled to the media the next day. 

He brought in a Sky Blue Revolution, changing the home kit to Sky Blue and bringing in the Sky Blue Song which was launched in 1962.

Along with improvements to Highfield Road, Hill took the team to win the  Division Three championship in 1963–64, and the Division Two title in 1966–67,

He resigned before the start of the 1967–68 season and missed out on City's first season in the top flight of English football.
