Few More Weeks For Maddison

James Maddison is a few weeks away from making a return to playing football, according to Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray.

The City boss said about Maddison, who has been out with an ankle injury picked up in the defeat at Walsall, to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “He’s doing all right; been full of beans in training back on the grass with Joe and enjoying that.

“They’re getting on well, working with the physios and knocking balls about.

“James has had a little break away for a few days, which I thought it was a good idea because he worked really hard to a point.

"The same goes for Reda who is away at the moment because the work is so hard and intense and then to not have a game at the end is mentally tough, so sometimes to give them a few days away helps.

"James is back and looking refreshed and not that far away now.  “Maybe another couple of weeks. The plan was always end of November, start of December to almost be back in full training and see how quickly we can get him back in.

“Whether we need to give him part of an Under-21 fixture or sit him on the bench and give him 20 minutes in the first team, we’ll wait and see how it fits with the 21s programme.

"But it will be good to have him back because it’s another option for us.”
