75% of those who attended the Fans Forum last night at the Ricoh Arena would back the signing of Marlon King.

Speaking at the forum which was hosted by BBC Coventry & Warwickshire, Aidy Boothroyd told the CT: "It would be the easiest thing in the world for me to come to a new club and have an opportunity like this come up and say I don't want anything to do with him because he shouldn't be doing this or that.

"There is obviously a moral issue and people are split, and I totally understand that.

"The other part of it is that I am a loyal person and loyalty works two ways. And you don't turn your back on someone if they have got issues or problems - you lend them an ear or are there to help them should they need it, and that's how I feel about it.

"Where do people draw the line on giving people a second chance? I believe in giving people a second chance although you certainly don't give a third and fourth. That's just my opinion and I am not saying that is right or wrong.

"In terms of where we stand with Marlon coming here, at this moment in time I am totally focussed on Saturday and getting a result and the last thing I want to be doing is talking about Marlon possibly coming here.

"I've spoken to him and I was speaking to his wife and family all the way through because they are the ones who have suffered.

"All I can tell you at this moment in time is that there are a lot of clubs interested in him, so let them speak to him because as far as we are concerned we've got to focus on getting a result against Portsmouth and having a good start.

"I will let you know what is going to happen with him - whether anything is going to happen with him - because there are a lot of things to take into consideration."

There has been concerns that signing King could lead to some City supporters staying away from the Ricoh Arena. "Yes, possibly. There is always a choice if we were to do something like that and you have to take the consequences that come with it.

"Don't think that I haven't thought about it because I have. I also have to think about the baggage that comes along with that and balance it up with the fact I could be getting a £5 million player for free, and the last time he was in the Championship he scored 23 goals for me.

"So these things are about more than football sometimes and you have to be very careful about what you do."
