F.A.N. Calls For Sponsor Boycotts

The Football Alternative Network are the latest group to call for boycotting the sponsors of clubs and leagues in a bid to drive down admission prices.

Whilst, Coventry City have done their bit and received praise for reducing admission prices, City supporters will pay what is considered to be excessive amounts to see the Sky Blues away from home this season with Millwall at £26 for adults, a price many City supporters took to social media to voice their opinion about, a case in point.

The group is calling for sponsors of clubs to boycott any club sponsor or companies which have sponsorship deals with the Football League/Premier League and said: "Surely there comes a time when the supporters' movement lays down its petitions and open letters and arms itself properly with boycotts.

"This does not just mean boycotts of entering grounds but boycotts of sponsors who contribute to a game that treats supporters like crap.

"Again we point to the Wigan approach of boycotting and donating to a local charity instead, coupled with the Blackpool approach of going to a local non-league game instead.

"But boycotts shouldn't be fans out on their own. Needs co-ordination and support."
