Family Fun day At Hill Statue Unveiling

Coventry City have announced that there will be a Family Fun Day at The Ricoh Arena on July 28th when the bronze statue to club legend Jimmy Hill is unveiled.

The club are promising an activity packed family fun day surrounding the schedules 12:45 unveiling of the day the 7' bronze statue of former City manager and chairman Jimmy Hill.

Guests at the event will include Jimmy Hill and the sculptor Nicholas Dimbleby along with some of Hill's former players, later managers, such as George Curtis and John Sillett

Life President of Coventry City Football Club Joe Elliott and Chair of the Statue Fundraising Committee, has promised a special day for all those who attend the event.

He said, "The day of the unveiling will be the culmination of a great deal of hard work and generosity from the supporters of this football club as well as the members of the statue committee who have worked tirelessly to see this idea come to fruition."

"Everyone connected with the football club should feel a sense of pride when this statue is finally unveiled. It is fitting that a tribute to Jimmy, who is a man of the people, has been brought about by the public."

"We want as many people as possible to come along, be part of and share in the excitement of this momentous occasion."

Part of the free family fun day will  be held in the Jaguar Exhibition Hall between 10am and 6pm and those attending will have the chance to meet  Coventry City players who will be signing autographs as just one of the many events scheduled to take place among which will include fairground rides, soccer skills activities, craft workshops and face painters.

The event will also be used  by the club to show off the facilities football club will be showcasing all the facilities available at The Ricoh Arena and will  include stadium tours and the opportunity to sample  match-day hospitality.

Guests will be invited to  an interactive training session with
the Coventry City squad on the Ricoh Arena pitch between 2pm
and 4pm and will be free to all season ticket holders and Junior Sky Blues, otherwise the training session will cost £10 for adults and £5 for concessions,

Andy Thorn will use the occasion as a training session before the pre-season friendly with Norwich City which will take place two days later on Saturday 30th July

He will divide the players into small teams and there will be a series of training based competitions and the event will end in a penalty shoot out between the top two teams.
