FA Cup Is A Welcome Distraction - Carsley

Coventry City captain Lee Carsley has described Saturday's FA Cup Third Round tie against Crystal Palace as a welcome distraction.

Speaking to Sky Blue Player at the club's weekly press conference, Carsley said: "The cup run could in fact be key for us to get back to what we have gone away from recently, as well as also picking up the spirits of the squad with the distraction from the league campaign the cup brings.

"The cup is always special to play in, with the past success the club has had in the competition, for me it's a good time of the year.

"With the FA Cup, you always associate it with giant-killings or playing teams from the Premiership and with that a home game is always an advantage and we must look to make the most of this home advantage.

"Palace are organised even with a new manager and when we played them earlier in the season we were unfortunate with a few decisions which went against us but we know what to expect from them and with the cup it's always a welcome distraction."
