EFL Trophy Gets Underway

The EFL Trophy, which has Coventry City has its holders, got underway this evening.

Six First Round group matches were played with Notts County beating Everton U21's 2-1 and Manchester City U21's beating Rotherham United on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the Northern Section.

In the Southern section, Plymouth beat Chelsea U21's on penalties after a 2-2 draw, West Ham won 3-2 at Swindon Town, Swansea City who started with former City youngster Cian Harries and brought on Courtney Baker-Richardson in the 53rd minute, won 2-1 at Cheltenham Town and Luton Town beat Tottenham U21's on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

Coventry City start their defence of the EFL Trophy, two weeks tonight with a home game against Shrewsbury Town.

City also face Walsall away on Tuesday October 7th and West Brom U21's at home on Tuesday November 7th.

The admission prices for all three group games are:

Under 18s: £5
