EFL League Cup And Trophy Changes

Last updated : 08 June 2018 By CNS Sport

There have been changes made to the EFL League Cup (Carabao Cup) and Football League Trophy (Checkatrade Trophy)

There will now not be any extra time at the end of ninety plus minutes of a League Cup tie.

If the scores are level, then penalties using the ABBA format, will be used to decide the winner.

Seeding has been removed from the opening two rounds but the Round One draw will see the teams divided on a North and South basis

This will be the last season that the sixteen Category One clubs will feature in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Clubs in League One and Two can now name players who are out on-loan at National League clubs, whilst invited teams will only be able to name two players who are over the age of 21 and have made more than 40 First Team appearances.
