Freddy Eastwood, who is on loan from Coventry City, played for Southend United in their against Crewe Alexandra which ended their hopes of promotion.

Former City keeper Cameron Belford played but could do little when Ajay Leitch-Smith scored on the left side of the area with a cracking shot to put Crewe a goal up and two goals up on aggregate.

Eastwood did have the ball in the net in the 31st minute but the goal was ruled out for offside in favour of a Crewe side who should have had the game wrapped up.

In the second half, Eastwood struck a post in the 56th minute before  substitute Neil Harris levelled on the night with a tap-in in the 64th minute.

However, in the 85th minute, Southend's hopes died when Max Clayton got a shot in on the right and beat Belford. Barker levelled for the second time on the night a minute later but there was no more drama and Crewe could start thinking about Wembley.

Crewe will play either Torquay or Cheltenham in the League Two Play-Off Final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday May 27th at 3pm.
