Former Coventry City striker Freddy Eastwood has been attracting interest from Stevenage, but Southend are in pole position to sign the striker.

Eastwood, who joined Coventry from Wolves in 2008 on a four year deal, was told last season that his contract would not be renewed and went out on loan to one of his former clubs Southend United.

In his first spell at Southend, again on loan, in 2004 Eastwood scored four goals in four games which led to a permanent deal. In the next three years he played 111 times netting 49 times and a move to Wolves followed.

During his year at Wolves he managed just three goals in 31 games, but he spent much of his time on the bench. He then moved to Coventry on a four year deal for a fee said to be around £1.2 million.

Eastwood played 113 times in the Sky Blue of Coventry, but flattered to deceive scoring just 17 times.

Stevenage manager Gary Smith, speaking to the local paper the Comet said that Eastwood "was on the list", but he had not yet spoken to his agent.
