Coventry City Interim Assistant Manager and U23's Coach Nicky Eaden said that the Sky Blues made hard work of their 2-1 FA Cup First Round Replay win over Morecambe at the Ricoh Arena.

Eaden is quoted by the Coventry Telegraph as saying: “It was a difficult game tonight, like the away tie was, so no surprise there.

“We made hard work of it to be honest – we got into good areas and the final ball wasn’t quite there.

“We’re not the most free-scoring team – we seem to get to that final third but whether it’s a poor decision or a poor pass we need that extra bit of quality.

“But Marv has come up with two decent goals which has got us the result. He’s got a good shot on him and perhaps that’s one thing he can add to his game, more goals. But look at the work he’s put in, chasing and leading the line – he deserved his two goals and it’s a slight disappointment he couldn’t nick a third one.

“You do everything you can to prepare your team but ultimately it’s about your players being switched on.

“There was a slight sloppiness at the set-play. Although we’re not the biggest team I thought we had enough height to deal with it but then it’s a flat cross and we let somebody get in front of us.

“It’s basics and it you don’t get those right you can’t progress as a team or an individual.“But we kept playing, kept passing, I would have liked to see a bit more urgency at times, really test Morecambe. But once we got ahead they haven’t got anything to hang on to so they had to commit more men forward and we’re not bad as a counter-attacking team – that probably suits us best.”

As to who Eaden wants in the Second Round, he said: “Cambridge is closer but if we go down to Dover we might be able to fit in a booze run for Christmas!”
