Coventry City defender Richard Duffy came on as a 51st minute substitute in a 3-2 win for Wales in Northern Ireland. In an entertaining affair in Belfast, Wales led 2-0 at the break with John Hartson having a penalty saved. Northern Ireland who had Coventry kid James Quinn in their side pulled it back to two apiece before a stunning free kick from Ryan Giggs gave Wales a rare victory.

England had skipper David Beckham sent off but beat Austria 1-0 at Old Trafford. Frank Lampard scored for England with a first half penalty. A win by Holland in the Czech Republic gave England a place in the World Cup Finals. Holland won 2-0 with goals from Rafael Van der Vaart and Barry Opdam.
Scotland who had former Sky Blue Stephen Pressley and Coventry kid Graham Alexander in their side lost 1-0 at home to Belarus and have little chance of progressing to the World Cup Finals in Germany next year.

Claus Jorgensen played the whole game in the Faroes Isles 2-1 defeat in Tel Aviv against Israel. Yossi Benayoun scored in the opening minute and Michael Zandberg scored in the final minute for Israel with Simun Samuelsen pulling one back deep in stoppage time.

Stern John who is currently underfire at Derby scored the only goal of the game as Trinidad & Tobago won 1-0 in Panama.
Youseff Safri was booked in the fifth minute of Morocco's 2-2 draw in Tunisia. The draw was enough for Tunisia to book them a place in Germany 2006.
