Dreadful Luck For McPake - Coleman

The injury to James McPake sustained on Wednesday night is part of the defender's dreadful luck says Coventry City manager Chris Coleman.

He's had dreadful luck since he has been at the club and what he has been doing is try to play catch up and then he's been playing too hard when he plays," said Coleman, speaking to the CT about James McPake's injury.

"He defended and played very well against Dunfermline but he has missed a lot of games over the last six months and your heart goes out to the kid because he is a good pro and he has been working hard to get in.

"He will get his chance but he has had a bit more bad luck and the story of our pre-season in terms of injuries and the size of our squad continues, unfortunately for us.

"It sums our pre-season up and it is another player we have lost on top of a barrel load of injuries we have already got, and it is another player we can't afford to lose.

"But he's obviously not going to be ready for the start of the season and we have got to hope and pray that he's not out for too long.

"The lads who were near him said they heard a noise as he went down and that's never good, but just watching the way he was moving afterwards, it didn't look very good.

"I think he fell awkwardly. I think there was a bit of contact, although nothing malicious and just an honest challenge from the striker and he has landed awkwardly."
