Coventry City's 1-1 draw with Peterborough United on New Year's Eve means that the Sky Blues start 2017 in 23rd place in the League One table.

Had City kept their lead, they would have been behind Bury, who drew 1-1 at fifth placed Bradford City, on goal difference. But the Sky Blues are in 23rd position, two points ahead of Oldham Athletic who lost 1-0 at Fleetwood Town and a point behind Chesterfield and Shrewsbury Town.

Sheffield United have gone top of the table with a 1-0 win over Northampton Town. Scunthorpe United had led the table but lost 2-1 at Bolton who push The Irons down to third place.

Southend United are sixth after a 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic whilst Bristol Rovers beat AFC Wimbledon 2-0 and Oxford drew 0-0 with Walsall
