Doyle: We Did Not Play Well Enough

Last updated : 20 August 2017 By CNS Sport

Coventry City captain Michael Doyle said that the Sky Blues did not play well enough during their 1-0 defeat to Newport County.

Speaking to BBC Coventry & Warwickshire, Doyle said: "We just didn't play well enough to be honest with you.

We were probably nowhere near the standard we set the last couple of weeks and we gave the game away to be honest with you. They were well organised and hard to beat, and we knew they would be.

"We should be walking away with a draw.

"Unfortunately for Liam he's made a mistake and he's held his hand up but on the whole we didn't play anywhere near where we expected to play. Once you go one down the crowd get a little edgy which is expected.

"You see what it means to the opposition when they get a win against you. They were celebrating like they won the league."
