Coventry City manager Chris Coleman has said that Michael Doyle was not going to feature much this season which is why he was allowed out on loan despite the squad being short of numbers.

Doyle, believed by many to be the current highest paid player on the club books, was loaned out to Leeds United yesterday for the season.

"We talked to Michael last season and said that maybe it was time for a change for both parties," said Chris Coleman to the CT.

"I explained to Michael that he wasn't going to figure as much as last season if we got the targets we wanted.

"He has two years left on his contract and he wants to play, which we can understand and when the Leeds proposition came about he felt it was good for him and we felt it was good for us."
