Coventry City captain Michael Doyle praised the City support who were at StadiumMK to see the Sky Blues progress into the FA Cup Fifth Round with a 1-0 win over MK Dons.

Doyle told the Coventry Telegraph: “I wouldn’t say it was a proper cup game for MK Dons but it felt like it for us because the following we had was unbelievable and it was great that we could reward them with a victory.

“I just always felt that we would win the game with that following. I know it was really hard at times, especially at the start but we weren’t going to let them down.

“We were disciplined and hard to break through but I thought we would get at least one chance to score and that we’d take it. The way Sparky (Marc McNulty) is playing at the minute, he’s unplayable and big Max Biamou is an absolute handful.

“It’s great for us that they are playing the way they are.

“To score at that end in front of the fans was brilliant and after the game all the lads have been talking about is the fans and how amazing they were.

“We need these people back supporting us because we have got a good bunch of young players and they have come to this club because it’s a massive club. And the reason it’s a massive club is because of the supporters we have got.

“We want to build and get promoted and we need them with us because just look at the difference they made today.

“If you come here to MK Dons with a few hundred you probably get played off the park but with that kind of drive and determination behind you it comes down onto the pitch and you don’t want to let them down.

“We want to get these people back to the Ricoh and get behind us because that’s why Coventry City is what it is, because of these people.”
