Coventry City midfielder Michael Doyle has said he was surprised, but honoured to be named temporary captain of the club as Lee Carsley served a one match ban.

Despite leading his team to a 1-2 home defeat at the hands of Norwich City, the Irish international enjoyed his short stint as skipper.

He said to the CT: "I wasn't expecting it, but the manager told us his decision on Friday and it was obviously a great honour for me.

"There are a lot of people he could have picked instead because there are a lot of big personalities in the dressing room, but I don't think you can read too much into it."
