Dowie Unhappy Then He Isn't

According to the Daily Mirror this morning, Iain Dowie has accused City bosses of misleading him about what money he would have for players The paper claims that £7m was promised this season to spend on players but with the take-over not happening as yet, this has not materialised.

Said Dowie: "I came here on the premise of having some finances but I can either throw my toys out of the pram or get on with it. "I have brought a lot of staff here and I have to carry on working the way I would do. "If we got a bit of investment from top to bottom, we could do well."

All this was later denied by Mr Dowie via the club website. "I have said from day one that I am relishing the opportunity to get stuck in here and nothing has changed in that respect," said Dowie to the club website: "I have an excellent relationship with the Board and Senior Management Team of the Club, a great set of staff and players and everyone is approaching the new season in the best possible frame of mind.
"The Board has constantly supported me and my staff in each feasible request possible. The sooner the takeover goes through the better it will be for everyone connected with the football club. I have never made a secret of that.
"I feel that I have had my quotes from a very positive press conference taken completely out of context. "I am a winner and I have never been the kind of person to mope or throw my toys out of the pram. I have been very impressed with the attitude of all of the players here. We've had an excellent pre-season, I love my job and everyone is looking ahead to August 11."
