Iain Dowie has lost his case against Crystal Palace Chairman Simon Jordan. The City boss was taken to the High Court after leaving Palace to join Charlton Athletic in May 2006 in a way which Justice Tugenhat ruled was getting out of his contract on the basis of "fraudulent representations".
The Palace chairman told the BBC that: "It's a good day for football. A judgement has been found in favour of contracts.

"The allegations made were not put forward in as dignified a manner as I would have wanted but I'm delighted that they were proven. "It's been a long hard slog."

A further court hearing will decide the level of compensation to Mr Jordan plus the cost of any court fees.

City have released a statement saying: "During his four months at the club everyone has found Iain to be a hard-working, knowledgeable and conscientious manager and Coventry City believes unreservedly that he is the man to take the club forward and into the Premiership.

"The outcome of the court case is obviously a personal disappointment for Iain and the Club will give him full support through this difficult time."
