"I would want to do better but there are certain people out there, including a minority of our fans, who probably think we are Real Madrid",said Adams to the CET.
"But we are not. We are Coventry City who have spent nothing over the summer in terms of improving the squad. "Yes, we have bought Matt Heath who cost us more like £25,000 than the £200,000 I have seen in reports. We haven't got £200,000 so I don't know where they got that from.
"The squad is thin and bare in certain areas but I understand that and why it is like that. There is not a bag full of money that we can go out and improve the squad with and the fans have got to understand that we are not one of the favourites for promotion, and rightly so."
