Disappointing And Frustrating -Robins

Coventry City manager Mark Robins said that it was frustrating and disaapointing that City lost 1-0 to Newport County at the Ricoh Arena.

“It was disappointing and it was frustrating. The passing was not good enough and we gave the ball away far too much,” said Robins to the club website.

“We were not as good as we have been that is for sure. We have had an off day and we have go to learn from it. If you do not have an off day then you do not concede.

“We are all going to make mistakes from time to time and today we have seen one of those.

“Liam will have to learn a lesson from that because it was an easy save and he has taken his eye off it for whatever reason, whether he was trying to get on with the game or not I do not know, but he has taken his eye off the ball.

“Then they had something to cling onto so they put men behind the ball and made changes to do that. Their keeper has then pulled off two unbelievably good saves to maintain their lead.”

“I’m very pleased,” said Newport boss Michael Flynn to the South Wales Argus. “I’ve had a bit of a busy week and that was a very sweet win to come here, keep a clean sheet and put in a performance like we did against a very good Coventry team.

“It’s been a lovely week and that win was for my wife and my new boy Samuel and I’d like to thank the players for putting in the performance that they did and keeping that smile on my face.

“If you don’t shoot, you don’t score. It’s as simple as that so I’ll never say it was luck.

“If they want to say it was bad luck with the keeper making a mistake then that’s up to them but I’m happy.”
