Director Issues Keep The Faith Cry

Coventry City Director Joe Elliott has urged City supporters to back the club. A walk-out by many supporters during the Boxing Day defeat by Ipswich has seen a low crowd for the Southend game and less supporters travelling to Elland Road than would be normally expected for a game on New Year's Day.

Mr Elliott said to the club website: "First of all, I 'd like to wish all of our fans a Happy New Year. We didn't get the result we would have liked at Leeds but everyone is hoping that we can start the New Year with a great result at Bristol City, which will help to put our disappointing Christmas behind us.

"Everybody at the Ricoh and Ryton are working desperately hard to ensure that the steady start to the season - until the West Brom game - is reignited. Hopefully we can start to claw our way up the table to challenge for a top six place once again.

"Operation Premiership is certainly still on track and people need to remember that we're five months into a three-year plan. The structure at the training ground and the Ricoh is as good as any Championshp Football Club and I would urge the supporters to keep faith with the club and the team and to give us all the help they can in trying to be positive. The fans are the lifeblood of our club and I would encourage them to attend as many games as possible."
