Former Coventry City loanee Carl Dickinson admitted that it was a disappointment that Port Vale were beaten 2-0 by the Sky Blues.

Dickinson who captained Vale and was one of a number of players who have played for Coventry City either on loan, or on permanent deals. in Robert Page's squad.

He told Valiants Player: “We’re disappointed; I think the first half hour we were on top

“I think the game is a completely different game if the referee gives one if not two penalties; I think the one on Marshy is blatant.

“But I think when they scored their first goal the shape of the team wasn’t as good as it should have been to try and go for it again.

“Then towards the end, we’re trying to gain something, hitting long balls up which to be fair we probably shouldn’t have been doing because they’re heads on sticks at the back.

“We only had smaller strikers on, we should have been looking for that extra pass to try and work something. “Disappointing but we have to dust ourselves down and get ready for a tough away game next week.”
