Delighted For Everybody - Mowbray

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that he is delighted for everyone after the 1-0 win against Bradford City in the Sky Blues final midweek match of the season.

“I’m delighted for everybody,” said Mowbray to the Coventry Telegraph,  “beating Millwall and Bradford back-to-back was always gong to be tough and we were felling a bit fragile because we haven’t been winning and yet they’ve come out and produced two great performances.

“When you look at the table it’s a bit galling and I’m struggling for words to describe where that ten weeks went – how, with total respect, we couldn’t beat Rochdale or Fleetwood at home.

“But I’m always proud of my players, even during the last ten weeks. The goals dried up and we were losing tight matches, but they always put in a good shift and I’ve never questioned their desire.

“They’re a really good set of lads and it’s not difficult for me to find the words before a game because they look you in the eye and they want to believe they can do it.

“We threw a new shape at them tonight and we had to be brave because it can leave you exposed, but in the first half they showed how they can retain the ball and take the sting out of a very strong team.

“It became too slow in the second half which is why we made the changes, to add some physicality and get some targets forward and thankfully for Andy Rose his first touch dropped fantastically well for him and he rifled it in off the bar.”
