The City left-back has moved to The Royals on loan until the end of the season.
"I know him quite well from a long time ago and, by chance, I saw him last week at a Coventry game I was watching and that jogged my memory," Reading boss Steve Coppell told Readings official website.
"He's played in the top division and is very attack-minded. At this stage of the season we need to get wins and I hope that he will provide a good springboard for us to get forward and attack.
"And he can also play in the centre of defence, so he provides more cover there as well."
