Defeat Drops City

Coventry City dropped to sixteenth in the Championship table after their 0-4 home defeat to Preston North End. The Lillywhites are up to fourth and behind leaders Sunderland who beat QPR 2-1, Derby who had former Coventry City loanee Stephen Bywater sent off in a 2-1 defeat at Ipswich and Birmingham City who beat Southampton 2-1 at St Andrews.

With West Brom in fifth, Wolves moved up to sixth with a 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace thanks to a brace from Jay Bothroyd.

Luton Town remain bottom of the Championship table with a home defeat against Plymouth. Southend are second bottom after losing 3-1 at home to Barnsley for whom Danny Nardiello scored twice.

Matt Heath scored the winner for Leeds at home to Burnley but Dennis Wise's side are still third bottom.

Leicester City could still be relegated after falling two points from the drop zone following a 2-1 defeat by Norwich City in Nigel Worthington's first game in charge. Hull who drew 1-1 with Colchester are 21st in the table.

One venue,City will definitely be visiting next season is Glandford Park after a 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town ensure that Scunthorpe United are promoted to the Championship. Bristol City are second with Forest,Blackpool, Yeovil and Oldham all in the play-off spots.

Richard Money is also enjoying the taste of promotion after a goal from Trevor Benjamin at Notts County gave The Saddlers a 2-1 win and a place in League One next season.

Locally, all our top sides lost. Nuneaton 1-0 at Leigh RMI, Rugby Town 4-2 at Hemel Hempstead and Bedworth 1-0 at Stourport.

Leamington scored their 100th goal of the season in a 5-0 home victory over Loughborough Dynamo. The win gives The Brakes 99 points from 39 games.

Stratford continued their good season with a 3-1 win at home to Rocester, Atherstone lost 1-0 at home to Alvechurch whilst Racing Club Warwick lost 4-1 at home to Romulus.

Coventry Sphinx needed only forty five minutes to win at Walsall Wood. A brace from Chris Harris and a strike from Wayne Pulford all in the first half were enough to see Sphinx home.

Second placed Highgate United drew 0-0 at Massey Ferguson whilst second from bottom Coventy Copsewood were beaten 2-1 at Heath Hayes. Alveston lost 1-0 at Feckenham and Southam lost by the same score at home to Brocton.

Elsewhere,Stockingford beat Littleton 2-1, Leamington Hibernian lost 1-0 at Fairfield, Coventry Sphinx Reserves lost 2-1 at home to Droitwich but Warwick Town won 2-1 at Enville and Kenilworth Town KH lost 2-1 at home to Northfield Town Reserves.
