Dean In Charge Of Cup Game

The currently appointed referee for Coventry City's FA Cup tie at Birmingham City on Saturday is Mike Dean from The Wirral.

Mr Dean began refereeing in 1985 and after coming through the Northern Premier League, he became a Football League assistant referee in 1995. More promotions followed and he progressed to the full referees' list in 1997, the Select Group of referees for the Premier League in 2000 and the FIFA list in 2003.

He has had 25 matches so far this season and has shown 93 yellow cards and four red. His last game at St Andrews was the 0-0 draw with Manchester City in November 2009.

His last Coventry game was the 0-0 draw with QPR at the Ricoh Arena on March 5th 2008. Previous games are the 2-1 home defeat to Sheffield United in December 2004, the 1-0 defeat at Stoke in April 2004, the 3-0 home win over Derby in December 2002, the 0-0 at Rotherham in October 2001, the 1-0 home defeat to Arsenal in February 2001, the 2-1 defeat at Bradford City in December 2000 and the 2-1 defeat at Arsenal in September 2000.

The Assistants are Ceri Richards from Carmarthenshire & Peter Kirkup from Northamptonshire. The Fourth Official is Anthony Bates from Staffordshire.
