Former Coventry City winger Liam Davis has been released by Northampton Town.

Davis or Dwiss as he was known at City, had 74 starts and 17 sub appearances for the Cobblers, scoring nine goals but he has nto been offered a new contract by Gary Johnson.

Speaking to the Northampton Chronicle, Johnson said:  “Liam will not be offered a new deal, we agreed we would get things concluded by Friday of this week and we can now confirm Liam will be moving on.

“He has given three years service to the club and we wish him well for the future but it is another opportunity for us to bring a fresher look to the squad, and it is clear that we do need to bring new players in.

“We hope to be able to announce some news on other players early next week."
