Former Coventry City defender, Scott Dann has been speaking to the Sunday Mercury about his decision to leave the Sky Blues for the Premiership.

City manager, Chris Coleman did not want to lose his club captain, but, with great reluctance, accepted the £3.5m bid from the Premiership club Birmingham City.

Dann revealed that Coleman tried to persuade him to stay in the Championship for at least another season to continue with his footballing education, but Dann had decided that the lure of the Premiership was just too good to turn down.

Dann said, "I think when you get a chance you've just got to take it because it might not come round again, you never know."

"You've got to pinch yourself sometimes from going from playing for Walsall in League Two in the space of two years to being in the Premier League. It's good for me, I've had to work hard to get here and there's still a lot of hard work to do."
