Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd has said the club are unlikely to seek a loan deal to bring Conor Thomas back to the club if Liverpool decide to buy the 17 year old play maker and the end of his loan spell at the Mersey-side club.

Boothroyd, who was disappointed to see Conor Thomas leave Coventry City said: "Conor is very talented, but you've always got to get the balance right."

"You want talented young players and players who have got a point to prove and want to re-ignite their career, you need your soldiers and your artists, but you always need experience. Any team that's going to be successful needs mature individuals in key spots."

"All the teams at the top of the table have got that but essentially we're still a young side and that's something we definitely need to address come the summer if not during the loan market."

"It's an initial loan fee with an option to buy at the end of it which might kick off other things, but the cash that comes in now is something that was needed, which is why that decision was made. I've been fortunate enough to work with some very good players."

"I think the biggest transfer fee for anybody under 21 is Ashley Young, and I sold him when Watford would have taken a lot less than that. If we could have held on to Conor for a bit longer it would have teased other clubs. The more he plays, the better he gets, and you get to a situation where you might get £5m or £6m."

"It's like poker. You want to know what the other person's got and how far they'll go and we decided we were going to cash in, but needs must, If the decision is made that the club needs money now, then that's the right thing to do at this particular time."

"I certainly won't be attacking the people I work for by saying we need to do this or we need to do that."
